Acupuncture for Cosmetology
There are many benefits of Acupuncture, from headaches to digestive issues and more. Acupuncture, in combination with Herbal Medicine, can be of benefit to many conditions.
An often overlooked benefit of Acupuncture is Cosmetology, or, Cosmetic Acupuncture. This type of treatment is much more than just firming the skin of the face by inserting needles into it. This treatment is specifically for patients interested in creating a smooth and vibrant look of the skin and texture of the face while internal imbalance of the body is being corrected.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), meridians (energy pathways) are where our vital life energy flows. If there is disruption of the flow of this energy, illness occurs. Many of these meridians in our body emerge at the face.
A Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, by observing both the spirit and colour of the skin of the face, can differentiate (to a certain extent) the physical condition of a patient. Because most of the body meridians emerge at the face imbalance within the body may be reflected on the skin of the face in the form of acne, lentigo, changes of melanin (pigment of our skin), and more.
Treatment using acupuncture and Chinese herbs can be conducted to correct the imbalances. Once the imbalance is corrected, it will reflect with a healthy skin tone, particularly at the face.
Cosmetology has been an integrated part of TCM for a long time. Utilizing the specific functions of Chinese herbs, it integrates 'external treatment' of traditional acupuncture and 'internal treatment' of Chinese Herbs to maximize the effectiveness of the holistic treatment, and in the long run, clears the root of the problem to maintain a healthy face appearance.
TCM Cosmetology Treatment includes a five step process;
1. Initial internal health differentiation to identify the internal imbalance, if any.
2.TCM Acupuncture Treatment to correct any internal imbalance and tonify the body’s qi and yin.
3.TCM cosmetology micro acupuncture treatment for the stress lines on the face to maintain and slow down the gravity effect.
4. A Chinese face massage using an herbal cream to infuse energy to the facial skin cells for an anti-aging effect.
5. A Chinese facial treatment (face mask) using specific herbs that can smooth and purify the facial skin cells for an anti-aging effect.
The length of this type of treatment varies depending upon how the patient presents at the initial visit. Typically, using a combination of internal and external treatments, there would be 6 TCM Treatments and 4 Cosmetology Treatments over a 3 month period.
