What Is the IT Band?
The IT Band is a thick band of fascia (connective tissue) that runs the length of your outer leg. The IT band attaches to the knee and helps stabilize and move the joint. When the IT band becomes stiff or inflamed, runners experience knee pain that prevents them from training – this injury is referred to as Iliotibial Band Syndrome (ITBS).
